Good TImes

So I was talking to Rima the other night and she excitedly told me Tv Land was having a "Good Times" marathon. It was one of her favorite shows when she was younger. I promised her I'd watch at least one episode before I went to bed. Well now I'm hooked. It is such a good show! Sanford and Son is actually really good too. I always thought it was annoying and didn't like how dirty everything looked.

Hmmm nothing interesting has happened lately. I'm gonna come home this sat. if Baker isn't doing the 40 mile bike ride w/ her dad sunday morning. Ugh!! One more day! I can't wait to sleep in sat!!

Things that I happened to today

What? Leno just said someone was getting a face transplant??

Anyway:

After work I had the lovely idea to walk to the Chi. Art Institue cause it's free on tues.
Problem 1: it was raining at the start and was pouring during parts, plus I was wearing those before mentioned flip flops and fell-the traction is lacking-and broke my umbrella.
Problem 2: the museum was closing as i was walking up to it-I think cause of the rain; it was supposed to be open till 8pm :(
Problem 3: the train; I finally get there, find my OWN seat and seconds before we leave the station some women plops next to me, I then notice why my shirt felt weird-the strap was broken
Last Problem: $40 ticket on my windshield for parking in a no pking spot at the station :( :(
I REALLY thought I was going to crash in the heavy downpour on the drive home but escaped any other problems and enjoyed the rest of the evening w/ ave. joe and...some other reality tv show. Over 100 channels and I'm still watching $#!+

finally

that took forever, i am finally caught up on all the postings i missed. becca i am very glad i didn't skip your previous entries, they were hilarious!

well i love my job and i like my apt. i am trying to get used to the 8 hour work days though. it's not a problem being at work it's just hard finding enough time to do everything else i want to do. i rented a movie when sandy came and had it for over a week and still didn't find time to watch it. also the quality of dining has diminished to zilch. one night dinner was donut holes and a lunch meat sandwhich, another night it was a cherry meijer poptart. i have the ability and ingrediants to make more nutritious food-just not the interest or supervision that i find necessary. my parents are coming this weekend to go to the botanical gardens so they might teach me how to use my charcoal mini grill that my sister gave me as an un-needed wedding present about 4 years ago-that has not yet been used.

we had a cookout today at work. the managers grilled us brats, chicken, burgers and they had a bunch of other food. Seems like they have stuff like this on a very regular basis. I had to type an "intro" letter to everyone in the office letting them know what i was going to be doing there-so a lot more people acknowledged me today-which was nice.

they put their old navy flaps on one foot at a time...

I always picture chicago people as intimidating, well dressed, highly groomed individuals (like deb in her power suits). But after walking around downtown tues I realized there were tons of people that were in way worse shape-in the fashion sense-then I. There was out dated denim skirts, frizzy hair, tapered pants, and neon shirts (from the first time neon was in). These incidents might have been abnormally high due to the season-all the tourists, however it was a nice welcome and made me feel a little more at home in my surroundings. Since I missed my first train I got to sit and talk to an old couple visiting their son-they were from Fla. and were wearing average old floridian attire.

Of course every other person had iPod ear buds in -but not as scary as I always thought. It did make me feel old though-not old in the sophisticated sense just plain old-because even though I still felt a bit like a little kid-getting bigger and bigger blisters every step of the way (in the wrong direction at times), everyone around me seemed about my same age. I kept expecting to see old people and then I realized that I was "old people". Well time to go make some bannana bread w/ the pile of rotting bananas in my fridge.

Things That Are New

Town: stores, restaurants
Apartment: neighbors, address, smell, geeses (and their feeses)
Job: supervisor, fellow employees, working hours (no more 20 hr. work wks)
Phone: games, rings, loudspeaker-deb I'd like to try a convo. w/ both of our loudspeakers on while driving-sounds like a good idea.
Entertainment: cable, high-speed wireless internet (hopefully soon), watering plants, buying milk

Valhalla

Valhalla

Well I'm sure none of you will believe this but I am again working on my coors paper.
I took a week long break once I found out it wasn't due till the end of the summer sumester.
I hope to email it to the prof. this weekend. Tonight if I'm very lucky.
I think that this paper has really caused me to like coors better. I am drinking a miller lite
and it really does taste awful. Damn union.

Well little mouse no need to wait too much longer. The (very brilliant) cable guys came to my
apt. today and installed my high speed internet and cable so I will be posting too many comments
for you to keep up.

OK back to the cable guys. For starters the appointment was scheduled for 4-6pm. Well I guess that was
up to the descretion (sp?) of the co. cause they called me at 11-"we're ahead of schedule can we come over?"
Umm well you see I am not currently sitting on my couch watching Los Locos en Generale Hospice praying for
you guys to come. You see I am at work and won't be home till 4.

"Can you take an early lunch?" So I come home-meanwhile at the office they are having a party...
literally-they brought a bunch of food in, were playing softball, bags, and darts and were
having a party while I was hanging out w/ the cable guys. All they said when they came in was
aren't you glad you got to come home early for lunch." Yes, thank for the thoughtful favor guys.
Then tossed me a "welcome package" said "here's your username, here's your password, sign
here" and left! Great service...ok I MUST go write this freakin paper now...less filling tastes like
$h!+
